Makeup Research
When doing our makeup research that we would implement on our main protagonist, we mainly looked at vampire shows. For example true blood, this is a very popular vampire series. The females in this show were all very beautiful and sexy. This was one factor that became very clear to us when doing our vampire genre research, it is typical to find that the females are portrayed in this way.
Another platform we used to research how we would complete our makeup look for our main protagonist was YouTube.
Again the results we were getting pointed us towards a more sexy look
Though this is typical for a female vampire character, this was another factor we as a group decided to subvert. We wanted to strip away the gender stereotypes and focus on the person, the individual rather than complying to gender roles. By removing the aspect of how the female looked we believed this would allow our audience to gain a deeper understanding of the main protagonist and her story. So we had to come up with a way to really show the vampire aspect with out causing her to look typically 'sexy'.
