Main Protagonist Makeup

When doing Armarni's, it was very important we represent both genres in order to represent the genres well and also give them clarity as to which genre was being depicted in the shot.

Urban Drama

The makeup generally used for female characters in urban drama is usually quite light and minimal. Although this idea is quite dependent on the characters role within the film. For example if the female character was depicted as quite 'girly' then you would expect for her makeup to be heavier,

Armarni's makeup was kept to a minimum as she did not have the typical 'girly' traits. The way she behaved you easily associate with a young male. the minimal makeup we used also helped give out this idea she was tired. Her life was getting to her.

Vampire

As mentioned in our vampire makeup research, we did not want the makeup to highlight our main protagonists sex appeal but rather we wanted to bring forth her craziness, fear and also need for blood. When starting this makeup look we needed to create a paleness on her face, this we completed by starting with white face paint base. But then added some foundation so the paleness looked natural rather than having a white face. The look around her eyes was completed by first using the bruise wheel in order for us to get that redness and then black eye-shadow.This resulted in the red eye contacts we used to brought out more. To top this off we added fake blood coming from her eye, which resulted in her appearing as if she was crying blood and also from her her mouth so that it appeared as if she had been eating a raw corpse.
