Twilight Website Deconstruction
- The background of the website is a simple black background. Despite it's simplicity, there are distinct reasons for this. One possible interpretation could be that the theme of horror and the supernatural is connoted through this. This background also adheres to the theme of vampirism because vampires can reveal themselves only when it is dark outside showing how theme is conveyed through the background. With relation to our teaser website, perhaps we too could use a black colour to epitomise the presence of the supernatural because we plan to include vampires within our trailer. Alternatively, we could subvert this stereotype because we are planning to create a hybrid piece which would give us reason to perhaps use a white background.
- The typography of 'Twilight' is particularly interesting because a lot of meaning has been input into this title. The typography design itself epitomises some sort of mystery and supernatural existence in its very elaborate and creative form. This perhaps implies that there will be some sort of supernatural presence in the film. With regards to our title typography, I feel that we could subvert this concept. In our trailer, we have aimed to comply with the 'enigma' concept and therefore, if we use a plain yet effective title, then we will be able to further continue this theme of the unknown.
- The colour of the title, red, coins a lot of meaning about the film; particularly themes of 'love' and 'danger.' The theme of love is particularly associated with the colour red showing how there will perhaps be a strong influence of love within the film. However, in a rather paradoxical manner the theme of love also connotes the presence of danger. Specifically, blood, because vampires crave the thirst of blood showing how all humans are perhaps at risk and the digetic world is not safe.
