Camera Angles and Movement
There are a range of camera angles used, most commonly the mid shot. However the close up shots are most effective as they seem the most realistic. Through the close up shots, you can see the facial expressions of the characters and all detail to mise en scene such as make up and special effects. Overall the camera movement is quite basic but this is to demonstrate the social realism aspect of an urban drama. The most effective camera shot is the extreme close up of the characters eyes, which shows anger - we hope to recreate this in our trailer.
Editing
The editing used in this trailer is pretty straightforward, however it is fast paced and mixes elements of the movie to construct the plot. In post production it seems that effects such as slowing and fastening the motion has been applied. This has been done to create the effect that this story is taking place over a period of time.
Sound
The soundtrack used is bespoke for the trailer, written and performed by 'Ashley Walters', the main character of this movie. It conforms to a UK sound, a remixed classical song with rap lyrics that relates to the narrative of the movie. As for the sound effects used this trailer includes sound effects such as gun shots, to create tension and of course relate to the movies title. Dialog from the movie is also included in this trailer to allude the narrative to the audience but obviously not reveal too much.
Mise En Scene
The gun plays a big role of the mise en scene and movie as it directly relates the narrative and title of the film. The gun appears numerously throughout the trailer as it hints towards the foundations of the movie. The urban location such as high rise coucil houses, cars, drug and street clothing also add to the mise en scene of the movie. The mise en scene conveys images of hardship, the working class, gangs, violence, illegal activities and the black culture. A vital key of the mise en scene is the idea of prison, as features in the trailer the protagonist has just come out of prison - however he returns to a small flat where he shares his bedroom with his brother relating to the idea of wanting to escape.
