Attack the Block Teaser Trailer Deconstruction
Attack the Block trailer:
- The establishing, low angle shot at the opening of the trailer showing the London city block is clear use of camera framing in order to set the scene and demonstrate the clear urban theme of the film. Similarly to our trailer, I feel that we too could include an establishing shot in order to convey that sense of urban drama.
- The use of typography such as 'is about to get worse' and 'it's inner city vs. outer space' helps to clarify the narrative arch and move the narrative of the trailer on swiftly. We could use this in our trailer and use subtitles or even a narrative, to help connote a clear representation of our plot.
- The characters of this film also break stereotypes of the British working class youth in London by demonstrating heroic qualities such as courage, bravery and strength. Characters of our film also divert conventions of the British working class where Zoe (our key protagonist) stands up against the vampire. However, similarly to 'Attack the Block' our characters are not completely unbelievable because both our film and Attack the Block are urban dramas and this would be unconventional of this genre to include such archetypal characters.
