- As recognised in previous websites that we have examined and deconstructed, it is clear that colour imagery is once again used. The colour red is used for specific effect in two places on this website; Beowulf himself is holding a sword with red blood splattered all along the blade. This connotes a sense of violence and gore, and perhaps foreshadows potential death in the film. This is further demonstrated in the title where the colour red is once again used which helps to convey this. The effect of having 'Beowulf' written in blood red shows that this violence is present in his very nature. We could use the concept of blood and red in a similar way because these are features which are present too in our film. Furthermore, both main characters are violent towards the general public and subsequently this would be relevant to our film.
- Themes of Beowulf include those of violence, action and horror. Consequently, the website has been adapted to suit these themes. Immediately, the gospel yet haunting music which plays in the background as you open the website, initiates the theme of horror. Furthermore, it could also be connoted from this that the film has been set in the crusades era because some may infer that this is stereotypical music for that era (along with the fact that the legend of Beowulf is set in this period). In relation to our website, I feel that we could perhaps adapt some sort of background music to help reinforce themes of our film in a similar way that this website has. I feel that this is effective because I have correctly received the preferred meaning of the music in the way that the designer of the website intended. I feel that for our website we could even incorporate some of the music /songs which we researched to place in our film to fit an urban yet horror themed scene. This would enable us to perfectly incorporate our hybrid theme into our website and appeal to our target audience.
- The effect of Beowulf's hands glowing highlights the supernatural elements of the film. Alternatively, it could be inferred that Beowulf has supernatural powers which allow him to be strong and highly capable in combat. Either of these inferred meanings is relevant to the film.
