12A
Certificate:
- 12A films is this
certificate rating given to '12' rated films, as of 2002. The following rated
film may encompass the use of soft drugs, discrimination, some use of bad
language, mild violence and some sexual activity. I feel that this cerificate
could be a definite potential however, according to the 'BBFC' board of
certifications, a 12A can only include some violence which would be rather
limiting on our gory scenes. Furthermore, it would be a challenging task to
make a successful thriller rated a 12A; the majority of thrillers use at least
a 15 rated film and therefore, I feel that we too should comply to this.
- A film of this certificate may include the following;
strong dug abuse, consistent usage of bad, highlight explicit language, strong
sex references and strong violence. This certificate would be highly
appropriate to our film because other than a few scenes of strong violence and
drug usage, there will not be any more explicit content. Therefore, I feel that
the certificate rating '15' would be the most appropriate.
18
Certificate:
- A film to which an '18' rated certificate is prescribed to
must include the following details; Strong sexual activity, very strong and
potentially gory / sadistic violence. Bad language may be used to any explicit
level and as frequently as necessary. There may also be frequent and explicit
references to drug use. In reference to our teaser trailer, although making our
film an 18 rated certificate, there will be no need to create such hard-core
content which is of the standard of an 18. There will only be a small selection
of scenes which reach the absolute limitations of a 15 rated film but other
than this, I feel that our film will best suit a 15 rating.
